AI visibility checker: see if ChatGPT cites your brand

What a useful check measures, what the free Hypervisible scan gives you, and why one check is never the whole story.

Updated September 29, 20264 min readBy the Hypervisible team

An AI visibility checker should answer one question honestly: when your buyers ask an AI assistant about your category, does your brand show up, and which pages does the AI rely on to answer?

What an AI visibility checker should measure

Many quick checks ask one AI one question and report “visible” or “not visible”. That tells you very little. A useful check separates four things:

  • Mentions: the AI names your brand in its answer.
  • Source citations: the AI opens and references a page from your site.
  • Demand: how often buyers actually ask the question. Being cited on a question asked thousands of times a month matters more than on one asked ten times.
  • Surfaces: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode don't pick the same brands. In the Hypervisible Nike demo, Nike's weighted presence ranges from 24% in AI Overviews to 59% in Perplexity and AI Mode.

A good checker also keeps apart the questions that already contain your brand name. Those almost always return an answer that mentions you; mixed in with the rest, they inflate the result. Hypervisible measures them separately, as reputation.

What the free Hypervisible scan checks

Enter your brand or domain, your market (United States, United Kingdom, France or Germany) and a work email. In under two minutes, the scan:

  1. works out your category, three competitors and five buyer questions with measured demand;
  2. asks those five questions to ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode, and records who gets cited: you or your competitors;
  3. counts the Google queries where your domain is already cited in an AI Overview, with examples;
  4. computes a visibility score out of 100 and shows the formula;
  5. gives you a report you can share by link, plus a film of about thirty seconds that sums it up.

No card, no commitment. Questions are asked in the language of the market you pick, the way buyers phrase them.

How to read your score

The score adds up three parts, all spelled out in the report:

  • 40 points for your demand-weighted citation rate on the five questions;
  • 30 points for presence: the share of surfaces where your brand appears at least once;
  • 30 points for your citations in Google's AI Overviews, on a log scale capped at 1,000 queries.

A low score is a map, not a verdict. When competitors are cited instead of you, the report shows on which questions and on which surfaces. When an AI mentions you without opening your site, other pages are speaking for you, and those pages are where the work is.

Why one check is not enough

AI answers shift from one hour to the next. A single check is a snapshot: it cannot tell a real gain from noise. Hypervisible re-runs the same cohort of questions on the same five surfaces every Monday and reports the change in points, so the movement you see is a movement that happened.

In the Nike demo (United States, September 28, 2026), Nike's weighted citation rate is 49% against a raw rate of 32%, or 40 answers out of 125. Its weighted share of voice is 33%, ahead of Adidas at 27% and Puma at 17%. The full figures are on the home page.

After the scan, two ways to go further:

  • The full report, €19 excluding VAT, one-off: 25 questions on all five surfaces, the Reputation space (tone, alternatives suggested, facts stated), cited sources, the full film and a PDF.
  • A subscription, €29 a month excluding VAT for the first 100 accounts (Founders), then from €49: the same reading every Monday, with the change in points. Cancel anytime.

Frequently asked questions

Is the AI visibility check really free?

Yes. No card and no commitment. A work email is required to open the scan's full report and to prevent abuse: one scan per address per week.

Which AI assistants does the free scan cover?

The free scan asks ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode. The full report and the subscriptions cover five surfaces: those three plus Gemini and Perplexity.

Does it work for any brand?

It works for brands whose buyers ask questions about their category, in the United States, the United Kingdom, France or Germany. Questions are asked in the market's language, the way buyers phrase them.
